If you have never locked your keys in your car, you almost surely know someone who has. Perhaps you were even the one who had to come to their rescue.
Fortunately, lock-outs can be avoided. Today, our Jeep® service center is offering some tips on how to prevent this situation from happening to you.
How to Prevent a Lock-Out
There are a number of things you can do to avoid locking your keys in your car, such as:
- Keeping your car open. While this is a perfectly valid way to prevent a lock-out, even if you live in areas of Cincinnati considered to be safe, you may not like having to leave your car unlocked.
- Getting a spare key. If you don’t have a spare key, you may want to consider getting one made. Of course, then you will have to remember to bring it with you.
- Using a magnetic box. Instead of having to carry around your spare key, you can opt for a little magnetic box. Magnetic boxes attach to the outside of your vehicle and will safely hold your spare key. You just have to make sure it isn’t in an area that other people can easily see.
- Having a digital key. If you drive a newer model, you may be able to have some of its functions set up in an app. With a digital key, you’ll never have to worry about a lock-out, as it will let you unlock your car instantly. You can also use it to start your vehicle remotely.
