If you’re unhappy with how often you need to get gas, there’s something you can do about it: Get a more fuel-efficient car. We understand, however, that this just isn’t a viable option for a lot of people.
Fortunately, there are other ways you can cut your gas costs that don’t involve having to buy another vehicle. With the right Chrysler service at the right times, you can get a lot more mileage out of a tank of gas.
Check Your Tires’ Air Pressure Every Few Months
Underinflated tires can really hurt your fuel economy. And since the psi (pounds per square inch) can change based on the air temperature, this should be checked often.
If you don’t know what the right number is, check out the doorjamb on the driver’s side or consult your owner’s manual. And don’t wait until your car’s monitoring system lets you know your tires are low; it will only notify you when they drop below 75 percent.
Change Your Oil Every Six Months
To perform as efficiently as possible, your car’s engine always needs clean and fresh oil. As oil gets older, it gets thicker, so it doesn’t provide parts with adequate lubrication. In addition to a loss of power, this results in the engine having to work harder, which means that it consumes gas faster, and you end up having to fill up more often.
If it has been a while since you checked your air pressure or had your oil changed, the service center at Jake Sweeney Chrysler Dodge Jeep® RAM will take care of those things and any other tasks you need. Contact us to make an appointment.
