With the horsepower number being so high you can only expect that the lb-ft of torque will match it – and so it does, achieving 650 lb-ft. This is produced through an eight-speed automatic transmission, which is new to the Dodge Challenger. Also, there is a new gearbox inside of the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT, the 8HP90, upgraded from the 8HP70 to handle the extra power and torque.
One way that Dodge controls the power for the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT is by giving drivers two key fobs, one black and one red. The red one allows the vehicle to reach its full horsepower, while the black one tops the horsepower at 500.
