We live in a DIY society. Every other home improvement show on TV is about how easy it is to do things yourself (whether it actually is or not). But when it comes to car care, unless you know what you’re doing, DIY isn’t typically a great idea. Here are three Dodge service tasks you will only want the pros to handle:
Changing the Oil
While not difficult, oil changes are a dirty job, and you may not be very willing to get under your car to do it. Plus, because oil is such an environmental hazard, it has to be collected and disposed of correctly. Just dumping it down a drain is a huge no-no.
Rotating the Tires
There’s a bit of a science to rotating tires, as they aren’t just taken off and randomly put back on. You have to look at the way the treads are wearing down so you know where they should go. This ensures that they wear down evenly.
Replacing the Filters
Did you know that your car has multiple filters? You probably know about the one for the oil, but there is also the air filter and cabin filter. And while changing these is relatively easy, you have to know where they go, and you need to have the right replacements. Plus, you need to know when to change them. If you do it too early, you’ll end up wasting money.
The nice thing about all of these maintenance tasks is that they are usually inexpensive, so a DIY approach may not actually be worth it. If your car needs some work, just get in touch with the service center at Jake Sweeney Chrysler Dodge Jeep® RAM in Cincinnati.
