Kelly Blue Book’s KBB.com honors vehicles with the lowest projected ownership costs. Things like depreciation, expected fuel costs, finance fees, insurance fees, maintenance costs, repair costs, and state fees are all taken into consideration.

The Dodge Grand Caravan is a seven-passenger minivan which comes in six trim levels: American Value Package (AVP), SE, SE Plus, SXT, SXT Plus and R/T. Standard features on the base AVP trim include heated mirrors, dual-zone air-conditioning, a second-row reclining/folding/removable bench seat, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, power locks, mirrors and front windows. Standard safety features include stability control, antilock disc brakes, active front head restraints, a driver knee airbag, front seat side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags. It is powered by a 3.6-liter V6 engine that produces 283 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque.

“The original minivan, the Dodge Grand Caravan, remains the champ in 5-Year Cost to Own by essentially running the table on the key ownership cost attributes,” said Jack Nerad, executive editorial director and executive market analyst. “It costs less to buy; it is less costly to maintain, and it depreciates less rapidly than its minivan competitors. Plus, it offers a variety of creature comforts unmatched by others in its segment.”
