When the 2014 RAM 1500 EcoDiesel premiered in February, RAM wasn’t sure what the response was going to be. But they could see very early on that the response was overwhelmingly positive, with 8,000 orders placed in just the first 3 days. This year RAM has decided to up the production of the RAM 1500 EcoDiesel to 20 percent of the truck’s total production. According to brand president, Bob Hegbloom consumers are demanding more of the EcoDiesel RAM 1500 vehicles, and RAM is answering the call. “Innovation sometimes comes with risk, but being first to market with a diesel engine for the half-ton segment has shown to be a great decision for the RAM Brand,” said Hegbloom. “The RAM 1500 EcoDiesel is a game-changer in the industry, and has proved to be a key to conquest sales over our competitors.”
VM Motori, an engine supplier, has agreed to a new deal with RAM and will send more of the 3.0-liter V6 engines, used for the RAM 1500 EcoDiesel, to the RAM plants in Michigan and Mexico. RAM is wasting no time putting this plan into motion. The production increase will start soon and is projected to be complete by the end of November.
